sunshine blvd. grew up in a very musically inclined family. Throughout his childhood, one of his family members was always singing karaoke or jamming to music in the house. Per his dad’s influence, blvd. listened to a lot of Stevie Wonder  (“I Love Stevie Wonder”) and Frank Sinatra (“When I was a kid, I used to sing Frank Sinatra songs even though my voice was like [mimics high screeching noise]”). He also enjoyed R+B, blues, and indie-pop. However, it wasn’t until he was seventeen, that he began making music.

Bedroom pop artists such as Clairo and Girl in Red inspired sunshine blvd.’s entrance into music production. “The first time, I listened to their music, I was like, “Oh, this is a really cool beat’ … and it’s kinda like the cheat code genre because it’s really easy to make. I guess that’s why I went for it. Because I can make one random loop that goes throughout the whole song and just do that again and again. Gotta work smart, not hard [laughs].” As humble as he is about his work, sunshine blvd. has reached a steady following of over 16,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. His fun, groovy beats accompany a soft, calming voice which makes his music the perfect choice to jam to in the car.

sunshine blvd’s gets his inspiration from a variety of places. “Odyssey” was inspired by a minecraft server that blvd. lived in when he was a kid. “Santa Rosa” embraces his Phillipino heritage by recounting memories of where he grew up.”

“It hits home when I talk about stories about when I was back in the Philippines…” blvd. Says. “Maybe if I have any Filipino listeners, they can vibe along to it…“Every time I make a song, I picture [a music video]. All that I can picture for [Santa Rosa] is bobbing your head left and right.”
